I just realized its been over a year since I bothered to post anything on Deviant Art as a journal entry.  Wow!   Didn't feel that long... hmmmm... I'll overview important details of my life and how its changed since... well I was in Brazil I guess!

-Working full time at a supply chain consulting firm in Boulder, CO

-Graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA of International Affairs - cum laude, BA of Spanish & Portuguese Language and Culture & a Minor of History.

-Finished writing an IAFS honors thesis about developing country coalitions and their effect on the USA's voting patterns in the UN.  A MAJOR reason for not posting anything... too damn busy!

-Worked with a Nikomat, developing Black & White film and prints... yet another reason why nothing has been posted in a while.

-Traveled to Europe and backpacked with my girlfriend, Janina, for 4 weeks including stops in Paris, Madrid, Toledo, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Berlin, Hamburg and Amrum... photos from the trip to come!

-Recently accepted to a MA program at the Brussels School of International Studies with the University of Kent... already planning the move and temporary residence visa process!

-Missing Janina every day! ;-)

I was just in Brazil for 5 weeks and had collected almost 400 photos in total.  In the end I only have about 200 of them now with me because those are the only ones I had burned to a disk in time.  The other 200 are with my camera somewhere in Brazil... I was assaulted a week ago and gave up the camera in favor of living to see another day.  I was taken by surprise while photographing surfers on a beach at 3pm with plenty of witnesses... sadly in Brazil, nobody wants to help you or the cops in any way.  So right now I have no camera, but any photos that I do post will be from my trip to Brazil or any photos I had neglected up until today.

I haven´t had a good run lately.  Since January I wasn´t in a good shape for a while until I went to New York for a conference over my spring break.  The amout of work I´ve had has been absurd and photography has taken a backseat in light of this.  To add to my stress level, I had to get surgery on my lower back this past friday and the vicodin they gave me has not allowed me to study for finals or get any work done.  To say the least I feel quite screwed and I still have a Maymester ahead of me before I leave Colorado for the summer.  On the plus side I will be likely travelling to Brasil this summer, unless I´m required to get another operation later this month or in June.  Sucks.  Whatever, its not like anyone on deviant art actually cares.  Maybe I´ll leave it this summer seeing how it has become such a pointless waste of time for me...

This is long and likely not even interesting to people... but venting anyways.  Just to address the political situation in the US of A as of right now post- Iowa/NH caucuses:

my candidate has essentially dropped out from running in the primaries.  My favorite candidate Bill Richardson is doing the right thing by throwing in the towel here and hopefully declaring his support for a single candidate.  With luck it will be Obama because he would make an ideal VP and this would be creating an ideal team to create what everyone appears to be seeking: "change"

After the humanitarian crisis in Rwanda of the Clinton Administration, the United States officially lost all respect it ever had in the international community.  Bill Clinton had most unfortunately appointed Madeline Albright at that time to be our ambassador to the United Nations, which foolishly and singlehandedly failed to prevent or halt a genocide of 1/3 Rwanda's population.  She remains one of the most hated American ambassadors to the UN ever.. even more so than Bolton.. leaving the world skeptical to what would happen if another Clinton takes office.  If you think the UN has forgotten about Rwanda already and how the United States left the scores of aid humvees sitting on the runway in Germany while innocents were being slaughtered, you would be foolish.

Now to bring Bill Richardson into the equation:  Once Albright went to meet the President of Japan to discuss issues of vital importance concerning both nations.  When asking Albright if it were ok to smoke cigarettes during the meeting, she responded by lecturing him on the grave dangers to health that cigarettes cause.  The US ambassador to follow in replacing Albright sequentially was Bill Richardson.  When he went to meet the same president a year or so later, the President asked the same question.  Bill Richardson responded by pulling from his pocket and lighting up a big fat cigar.

To say the least, what this shows is the nature of diplomacy.  While Albright felt it necissary to lecture and dictate "American values" whenever possible, Richardson would simply respond or accomodate.  Should we have a presidency hosted by the Democratic party, I can only hope that big Bill will be a Vice President.  He does not waste time making rediculous demands nor does he insult the personal or national interests of other countries.  This is a characteristic our future government must have in order for the US to gain international respect once again after almost 2 decades of dissappointment and embarrassment.  Personally, I believe that while Obama makes his mark as a young, articulate and visionary candidate, Richardson can maintain the backstage work ethic and image needed.  Cheney has orchistrated a number of under-the-table dealings during his 8 years in office and has been rarely seen in public.  If you want a STARK contrast... Richardson is who you should be looking for.  While I really am not a staunch supporter of Obama, I will support any candidate who takes Richardson up as their VP candidate.. except Edwards (b/c he is a hypocritical religious malpractice lawyer.. not ideal characteristics for a President in my opinion).

So now here's something about me personally:

So apparently I have 2,364 deviations that I have missed over the months.. which should be an indication to how busy I have been.  I really haven´t had time to do much of anything but schoolwork while I´m in Colorado and when I was home with family.. well.. I spent my time with the family.  However, I did go with my family to Mexico for 10 days, so I should be submitting again gradually over time.. with luck.  But I do know my next semester is going to be my hardest yet, so finding the time is once again going to be an issue.  This is unfortunate but necissary as of right now.  Qué pena. :-/

I used to have time to upload photos on DeviantArt and browse other people's galleries..

However now that I have a job once again and am a student with double major with a minor I have very little time for anything anymore.  I still take my photos.. but uploading them just never really happens.  I'm lucky if I can sort or organize them.. Once the holidays come around I will catch up again, but right now I've got too much going on.  I'll be back soon!!  Promise!! =/
